Shkodër may not yet be a full-fledged digital nomad hub, but it’s heading that way. The city already checks many boxes remote workers look for: reliable internet, affordable places to stay, and a relaxed atmosphere with plenty to do after work. While options are still limited, you can find a handful of welcoming cafés that make logging on more enjoyable. If you’re searching for the best remote work cafés in Shkodër, Albania, here are four that stood out during our visit.

Need a place for some journaling inspiration? This eclectic place is just the dose you need then. It’s full of books, plants, color and just the right music to keep you in the zone. This is also a place where you’ll spot a few remote workers typing away on their laptops, alongside people journaling over freshly brewed coffee. It’s the kind of place you leave wishing it were your neighborhood café, and one of the coziest remote work cafés in Shkodër for quiet focus. It’s just so welcoming and inspiring.

Top Tip: Don’t forget to visit the bathroom. Definitely unique wall paper decoration! Go check it out – we won’t spoil it for you.

While the charm of EKO Club is undeniable, the practical details are worth noting. It stays open later than many cafés in town, making it a dependable spot if you like to linger into the evening. You won’t find it overrun with crowds, which adds to the sense of calm, and the space is easy to work from if you bring a laptop. On the flip side, there’s no air conditioning, so warm days can feel a little stuffy, and the menu leans heavily on coffee and light snacks rather than meals. Still, those quirks fade quickly in a place that feels this comfortable and creatively energizing.

Stolia Coffeehouse & Brunch

Clearly this is the place to be! It’s totally vibing with locals and foreigners. Not only is it aesthetic and cat-friendly, their food is just out of this world. Definitely worth a visit even if you don’t come to work! We were surprised at the amount of workers they had for such a relatively small place – nonetheless they were all super busy but this meant the service was fast.

Top Tip: In the morning it was very busy and would not recommend sitting with your computer. Try the afternoon when the morning/lunch hype is done.

Stolia shines with its variety, offering everything from hearty brunch plates to cocktails, and the outdoor seating makes it an easy spot to linger when the weather’s nice. The café even has two resident cats, adding a playful, homey touch that regulars love. The main drawback is the crowd factor—mornings and lunch hours can be packed, which makes it hard to settle in with a laptop, and only a handful of tables are actually suited for working. If you time your visit for the quieter afternoons, you’ll find it’s one of the most popular remote work cafés in Shkodër, blending a lively vibe with a solid menu.

Kanellë

Located a few meters from the Site of Witness and Memory, you can spot this cafe which is not necessarily on the radar for most but we found it had all what we needed for a productive working session. The waiter was very friendly and while they may not have an actual menu, his English was on point to let us know all the ingredients that the pastries had in them. The great coffee quality, the air-con and the lack of distractions made this place a great place to check-out.

What makes Kanellë stand out is its peaceful vibe. The soothing music, cool air-con, and sparse daytime crowd create a distraction-free environment that’s ideal for focusing, and the café is set up well for laptop use. There are also a few outdoor tables if you’d prefer to work al fresco. The downsides are relatively small: without a menu you’ll have to rely on the waiter to walk you through the limited selection, and the chairs aren’t especially comfortable if you’re planning to stay for several hours. Even so, it’s a dependable choice if you’re after strong coffee and prefer quieter remote work cafés in Shkodër away from the main crowd.

Scutari Garden

Cozy café interior with purple chairs, modern decor, and a well-stocked bar in the background. Remote work cafes in Shkodër - Scutari Garden.

This spot has the feel of a stylish Balkan brunch café, complete with playful touches like a teddy bear sitting at one of the tables. The menu is broad for a café setting, ranging from piadinas and crepes to yogurts and signature drinks—most of which can be spiked with alcohol if you want to turn your work session into something a little more indulgent. We visited in the afternoon and found several tables available for working, with the option to sit indoors or at one of the smaller outdoor tables.

The combination of air-conditioning, a laptop-friendly setup, and a relatively quiet atmosphere during the day makes Scutari Garden a comfortable option for getting things done. The only drawback is that the outdoor seating area doesn’t offer many larger tables, so if you prefer to spread out with more than just a laptop and coffee, it can feel a bit cramped. Still, the variety on the menu and the relaxed environment indoors make it a solid choice for remote work.

Conclusion

All in all, these four remote work cafés in Shkodër offer digital nomads a reliable starting point. Each has its quirks—whether it’s cozy décor, resident cats, or an extensive brunch menu—but together they highlight the growing potential of the city as a base for remote work.
