The drive from Tekapo up to Aoraki Mt. Cook National Park was absolutely stunning as the road hugged the aquamarine Lake Pukaki. Suspended rock dust ground down over the millennia from the Hooker and Tasman glaciers cause the lake to glow the most iridescent blue you’ve ever seen. Seemingly every lake and river I’ve come across has been a derivative of this shade of blue. I was tempted to pull over at ever single turn off along the 45 minute drive!
