I have something to confess. I am taking a temporary break from my whirlwind trip. Only 4 months in, I have found something to slow me down and cement me in one place for the next two months.

I am going to become a certified divemaster!

That’s right, my time on the island of Koh Tao with the fabulous people at Goodtime Adventures has lured me back to do a hell of a lot more diving and become a dive professional.

Now, I absolutely plan to get back on the road once I’m done, but I wanted to take the time to do my course there since I found an amazing group of friends and teachers. And it’s also one of the cheapest places in the world to get certified!

So how does this affect my itinerary I had originally posted? Well, I have a deadline to get to Scotland by late August for a friend’s performance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. So I must get my diving done by then and still have a bit of room to explore the UK beforehand. Which means I’ll have to find more time to see other places in Asia I had planned to visit – namely China, Japan, and the Philippines.

I hear that parts of Asia can be nice late into November and December, so I might go there after Europe!

Stay tuned as the frequency of posts here will continue as I have lots of stories in the works from my first third of this trip and I have lots more adventures to try out on Koh Tao including rock climbing, trapeze classes, and of course scuba diving!
